Last week my husband and I were on our way toward Big Bear for the weekend and on our drive we went past the most gorgeous hills I’ve ever seen. They were covered with prairie-type flowers of yellow, orange, white & purple hues. They were probably just weeds, but they were the most beautiful weeds I’ve ever seen. I was mesmerized by the canvas that they painted and I had to snap a picture of it on my phone.
As I was looking for a Bible verse that went the picture, I found this:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” -Ecclesiastes 3:11
“[God] has made everything beautiful in its time…” they were the perfect words to go with those beautiful weeds. Sometimes, my life feels like a weed. It doesn’t always feel like a beautiful, perfect bouquet of roses. But just as there is beauty in the perfect, there is always beauty in the broken when God is at the root of our lives. And whether you’re feeling like a weed or a rose, just know that God has made you beautiful and He is constantly working in us and through us.
“He has also set eternity in the human heart…” This is fitting for this week specifically. This Friday, I will remember the sacrifice that God gave his “one and only Son” so that you & I could have eternal life (John 3:16). So that at the end of our lives, when our earthly bodies are fading away, we can have the hope of glory. Without Jesus Christ dying for us, we would just be sinners whose lives have no purpose, no meaning and an ending. But God created us to spend forever with Him. He loves us. And His love for us is so great that our simple human minds cannot even fathom it.
Be encouraged this week and remember these two things:
1. You’re beautiful – inside and out.
2. Jesus died for you so that you could have the hope of an eternity spent with Him.
