As mentioned yesterday, my husband and I have been traveling quite a bit the past 2 weeks. We learned some really interesting things about dairy and calf health, and we were able to fit in some fun in the midst of all of our learning!
The first trip was spent in Half Moon Bay up in Northern California. On the first day there, we went on a bike ride along the coast and ended up at a little cove on the beach where we were all alone! We climbed a few rocks, and headed back to our hotel for some socializing with fellow calf-raisers.
The second day of this conference, we had some free time in the afternoon. Since San Francisco was only about 45 minutes away and my husband had never been there, I thought it was the perfect opportunity for us to make a little trip over to San Fran. So we did just that! We went to Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, drove past AT&T Park (home of the SF Giants), ate the Bay Bridge Banana Split at Ghirardelli Square and saw the Golden Gate Bridge! It’s safe to say that we fit quite a few stops into our few hours in SF, but it was so fun!
The second conference we went to was in Reno, NV. I’ve never really been inside of hotels in Nevada before, so I was in awe of the gambling scene. Especially because I would much rather go shopping with money than gamble with money. My thought process is that when I buy clothes, I come back with clothes. If I gamble my money, I could lose it. Yes, I could gain more than what I started with in the first place, but the risk of losing money makes gambling seem so not worth it. That’s just me though. 🙂 We met some people who work in the dairy industry and are very knowledgeable about raising calves, so it was pretty interesting to get to speak with them. We also ate way too much delectable food on this trip!
SO….that’s what we’ve been up to the last couple of weeks. And that’s why I haven’t blogged in a while. I’ve been busy eating food, road tripping and learning about calves. 🙂 It was a fun couple of weeks, but it’s definitely good to be home again!
